Junu and her mother live in a modest home somewhere in a Nepalese village. Junu and her mother have a wonderful relationship and are very happy together. Junu attends a primary school in the hamlet and is a strong student. Junu’s father recently presented a marriage proposal to her daughter. Junu’s mother refuses the marriage since she is a child, but in a male-dominated culture, nothing can stop a man from making his decision. Junu marries Prakash, who is two to three times her age.
Due to her immaturity, Junu is unsure about what to do after the marriage. The worst thing is that the husband and wife’s sexual connections are not reciprocal and she is being sexually abused. Prakash, however, drowns after falling into the river one day while traveling to the neighborhood market. Following the death of her spouse, Junu experiences a great deal of hardship and emotional upheaval, which profoundly alters her life.

Shupala Sapkota (Junu Adhikari) portrays the child artist in the film Boksi Ko Ghar. In the film, the younger Junu is shown as a brilliant and intelligent girl who is also naïve. She studies at the elementary level, helps her mother, and performs basic domestic activities. However, anytime she enters into a child marriage, her goals and ambitions are dashed. Shupala Sapkota, a kid artist, stole the hearts of the audience with her captivating performance. As the film unfolds, her performance and conversation keep the audience involved with her plot. Millennials might connect with the character and have a nostalgic feeling. However, viewers are saddened by her post-child marriage case. Shupala Sapkota gets a lot of appreciation and credit for the film Boksi Ko Ghar.
Keki Adhikari plays the elder version of Junu Adhikari in the film Boksi Ko Ghar. As her character develops, she becomes a victim of ‘Boksi Pratha’ in a small community in Nepal. Her in-laws’ family abandons her when it comes to pursuing her passion and voice. Her spouse is in love with her just for sexual reasons, and she lacks connection and link with him. She embodies the Boksi persona, who is psychologically miserable and unstable as a result of the villagers’ immoral and superstitious beliefs. Keki Adhikari worked hard to depict a distinct and unique persona in the film Boksi Ko Ghar. Her character expresses largely sympathetic thoughts as we progress through her character arc; yet, from a deeper perspective, the character encourages the spectator to become empathic with the victim of Boksi Pratha. We thoroughly appreciated Keki’s stunning performance and hope she presents more compelling, curious tales in future movies.
The movie Boksi Ko Ghar stars Sulakshyan Bharati (Prakash) as Junu Adhikari’s spouse. He is a nasty and arrogant individual who doesn’t listen to anyone. He values his sexual drive and sensations more than anything else. As an unearthly character, Sulakshyan Bharati’s acting adds negativity to the protagonist’s character development. When younger Junu is violently raped, the audience may feel compelled to hurl shoes in his face. Overall, Sulakshyan had a strong performance as a dark and cruel character in the film.

Sulakshyan Bharati, the writer/director of the film Boksi Ko Ghar, offers a captivating and curious narrative to Nepalese spectators. The premise is simple, yet his presentation and narration keep the viewer fascinated as the film continues. Even in the twenty-first century, the film portrays ignorant and immoral individuals in rural areas following the belief in witchcraft. The movie showcases Sulakshyan Bharati and Keki Adhikari’s great vision to eradicate the Boksi practice. In terms of performance, child actors steal the show, particularly Shupala Sapkota. They are all great gems who evoke nostalgic and warm sensations when witnessing their discussions. Another remarkable aspect of the film is the editing by Sulakshyan Bharati and Lokesh Bajracharya. The film follows the storylines of two generations, and the editors link to the flow of the tale. As an audience, we appreciate the creators of the film Boksi Ko Ghar for presenting it in a much-needed niche. Good attempt.
